Create a Transmit XML Feed

Before you are able to create a feed within Transmit, you must have set up at least one Transmit schema. When setting up your first feed, you will be asked to select an “input schema” and “output schema”. The input schema will be used to read the files being sent to Transmit, while the output schema will be used by Transmit to write the files you that want to create.

STEP 1

From the Home page select the Add feed button.

STEP 2

Give your new feed a name. Select the Input schema ‘Transmit input‘ and Output schema ‘Transmit output‘ that you want Transmit to use when reading and writing files. Enter the output name you would like written to all of your transformed files. Check any boxes which you would like to applied to your feed. Lastly, click Create feed once you have completed all of the above.

STEP 3

Set up your preferred Input method. This is the method by which Transmit receives files.

Drag your cursur to the top right of the Input method box to display the Change link.

Click the Choose method dropdown box and select appropriate method. Enter any details that are required for the Input method you have chosen. Click Save to confirm your changes.

STEP 4

Setup your preferred Delivery method. This is where transformed files are stored or sent.

Drag your cursur to the top right of the Delivery method box to display the change button.

Click the Choose method dropdown box and select appropriate method. Enter any details that are required for the delivery method you have chosen. Click Save to confirm your changes.

STEP 5

Identify and delete any mapped fields that you do not want mapped.

To delete a mapping, click the rubbish bin icon that is highlighted in the image below.

Note: Any Input schema fields that have not been mapped will be ignored when read by the Transmit parser. Equally, any unmapped output schema fields will not be written to the created file.

STEP 6

Begin mapping any required fields that are unmapped. Unmapped fields are located at the bottom of the feed configuration page.

To create a mapping, simply drag an input schema field to an output schema field, releasing your left mouse button when the box highlights green.

If you need to map an input schema field to an existing mapping, simply drag the unmapped field to the mapped field as shown in the example below. This will create a three-way mapping. The same method applies if you wish to create a four-way mapping or more.

STEP 7

If required, you can add an Input Filter to your feed.

Click the Add filter button found at the top of the feed configuration page.

Select/type the name of the Input Field you wish to apply a filter to and click the Add filter field button.

Click the tick symbol to select a Input filter type, or click the rubbish bin icon to remove the filter.

STEP 8

If required, you can add conversion rules to your Input Schema Fields.

Click the gear icon to the right of the input field you wish to apply a convertion rule to.

Select the rule that you wish to apply. The type of conversation rules available will vary based on the type of field you are creating the rule for. The rules available could be of numeric type, image type or as in the example below, of a text type.

STEP 9

If required, you can add a Validation Rule to your Output Schema Fields.

Click the check icon to select a validation rule. Select the validation rule you wish you add to apply to the output schema field.

*In addition to the rules shown above, there are several unique rules that are available when more than two fields are mapped. There are conditional mapping rules, merging rules, and as seen in the example below, splitting rules.

STEP 10

Test the rules that you have set up.

Enter relevant data into the input field text boxes that you wish to test (in the example below the rules being tested are highlighted). To begin the test, click the ‘Test’ button at the top of the feed configuration page.

The test results will appear in the corrosponding output field text boxes.
